Friday, May 10, 2019 - The National Circus Project came to town this week and they are making a splash at Cooperstown Elementary School. CCS Students K-6 were challenged during Physical Education classes this week to use self-discipline and patience and develop good practice habits as they faced new circus skills and collaborated with their classmates. The National Circus Project is an educational outreach program with over 30 years of experience and serving schools throughout the Northeast. On Friday, May 10, CCS 3rd grade students treated all in attendance to a dazzling display of balance, skill, teamwork and patience - graced with a touch of humor. This program was made possible at CCS Elementary School by the generous contributions of Cooperstown Foundation for Excellence in Education, The Heilig Foundation and the Cooperstown PTA. Special thanks also to Mary & John Tedesco for opening their home to house our circus guests during their visit with us in Cooperstown. For further information about the Circus Project at CCS, please contact Bud Lippitt at blippitt@cooperstowncs.org.

2019 CCS Our Town Exhibit - 11th Grade English Honors Project
Thursday, May 2, 5:30-7pm Opening Reception
Every person has a story and those stories are the fabric of our communities. After studying Thornton Wilder’s play Our Town, students in Mrs. Burk-Sciallo’s 11th Grade Honors English class each interviewed a citizen of our town and created a written piece and a visual art piece that depicts their story.
The 2019 “Our Town" exhibit comes together in a celebration of life at the Fenimore Art Museum. Take a gallery walk on May 2nd from 5:30-7:00pm and learn more about the stories that make up our town. The 2019 “Our Town” exhibit will remain on display at the Fenimore Art Museum during the month of May.

The CCS Athletics Department is thrilled to announce that we will be holding a NCAA Celebratory Signing Day on Friday, May 3. The event will be held in the JR/Sr High School Library at 3:15pm. We hope you can join us to celebrate our student accomplishments.

In celebration of Occupational Therapy recognition month, Mrs. Johnson-Spencer is educating staff about the importance of occupational therapy in a child’s learning experience. Here, she has created a sensory path for students.
Having a sensory path on the playground promotes focus, academic and physical coordination, while encouraging socialization and problem-solving skills!
If you have pavement and chalk, you can make your own sensory walk! Change it up every week to keep kids engaged and learning!

Today, Mrs. Butler was working with the AP student in preparation for AP tests in May.
