Last night at a special meeting of the CCS board of education, members voted unanimously to select Lynne Mebust to fill the vacant board seat for the term ending June 30, 2023. Lynne Mebust is a strong advocate of public education. She is a graduate of Islip High School on Long Island and the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where she studied history and government. Her background in education includes nearly two decades as an instructor and project manager at the Close Up Foundation, a national nonpartisan civic education organization in Washington, DC. More recently, she has worked as an educator at the Farmers Museum and Fenimore Art Museum as well as a substitute teacher at Cooperstown High School. Ms. Mebust has served as a volunteer and board member of numerous community and youth-serving organizations, including the PTA, the Sports Booster Club and the Cooperstown Foundation for Excellence in Education. Her three sons are graduates of Cooperstown Central Schools.
