Wednesday, October 28, 2020 (Cooperstown, NY) - CCS 6th Grade students in Diana Garcia’s English classes have been immersed in an interdisciplinary investigation of historic cemeteries. The Guiding Question of the study is "How do historic cemeteries reflect changes in people's values and beliefs over time?" Students built background knowledge by reading and discussing non- fiction text and viewing photographs, analyzed the meaning of symbols commonly found on headstones, and learned about rhyme scheme, free verse and the use of figurative language. Students completed fieldwork at the historic Christ Church Cemetery on River Street in Cooperstown.
