
Mrs. Nelen's class spent part of the morning at Price Chopper recycling bottles and cans collected from CCS. This afternoon, they were busy baking bread for an upcoming community event.

January 15th, Litmag and Media Team interviewed Shelly Callahan, director of the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees, and Selma Jasencic, Bosnian refugee who came to the US in 1992. Students took a tour and worked with Loch Phillipps, director of Off Ramp Films, Inc., who has been on location for his own documentary of the MVRCR. Footage he took of our students filming the interview and our audio of Shelly's answers may appear in his finished product. We've been invited back to cover a naturalization ceremony February 7th. Litmag and Media Team will edit the footage into an entry for the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Speak Truth to Power video contest. The entry will be featured on the 2018-2019 Literary Magazine website.

CCS 7th grade students Charlotte Feury, Coralise Bailey, and Ben Katz have been chosen for publication in "Stranger Sagas". Their spooky flash fiction will be available at the school library later this spring, and will also be featured on the 2018-19 Literary Magazine website. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Emma Grover, Tess diLorenzo, and Eric Kukenberger! Emma, Tess and Eric recently competed in the CASSC Speech and Debate Tournament at SUCO. Tess placed 2nd in Original Interpretation, memorizing and presenting two short pieces of literature. Emma and Eric placed 3rd in Public Forum, debating both sides of the topic "Resolved: The United States should end its arms sales to Saudi Arabia".

It was a special senior night for the volleyball team at Bursey Gymnasium as they defeated Westmoreland 3-0.
