The Board of Education of the Cooperstown Central School District invites all qualified voters of the District to submit letters of interest to fill a vacancy on the Board created by a resignation. In accordance with the law and Board policy, the Board can fill this vacancy by appointment until the next District general election on May 21, 2024. The Board has elected to make an appointment in order to avoid the cost and time associated with holding a special election.
To be eligible for appointment an interested party must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, have resided in the School District for at least one (1) year, and not be currently employed by the School District. To be considered for appointment, eligible parties must submit letters of interest in person at the District office located at 39 Linden Avenue by no later than Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 4:00 p.m.
Letters of interest must include applicants’ reasons for wanting to serve on the Board of Education as well as all relevant experience. The Board of Education will review all letters of interest at its executive session held on September 20, 2023, and intends to make an appointment of a qualified candidate at its meeting of October 18, 2023.
