Contingency Plan for Unused Snow/Emergency Days

Posted Date: 04/09/26 (06:02 PM)

Dear Cooperstown Community,

Currently, the Cooperstown Central School District has three snow/emergency days remaining for the 2025-26 school year. Below you will find a contingency in the event that we do not need to use all, or any, of these emergency days. This will allow you to plan in advance.

As you know, our school year is comprised of 180 days. To assure we meet the 180-day requirement, please review the below scenarios for use of these days should we not use any, or all, of our remaining snow/emergency days:

  • If we do not use another snow/emergency day, the CCSD will be closed:
    • Friday, May 22, 2026, which is the Friday before Memorial Day.
    • Tuesday, May 26, 2026, which is the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
    • Friday, June 12, 2026.

  • If we use one of our remaining three snow/emergency days before May 22, the CCSD will be closed:
    • Friday, May 22, 2026, which is the Friday before Memorial Day.
    • Tuesday, May 26, 2026, which is the Tuesday after Memorial Day.

  • If we use two of our remaining three snow/emergency days before May 22, the CCSD will be closed:
    • Friday, May 22, 2026, which is the Friday before Memorial Day.

  • If we use three of our remaining three snow/emergency days before May 22, the CCSD will not be closing any additional days.

The weather in April is unpredictable and I remember a year it snowed on Mother’s Day, and we may end up requiring the use of some of these days. However, I wanted you to have this information in advance for planning purposes.

Wishing you all well. Thank you.
