Cooperstown Boys Varsity Basketball Repeats as Section III Class C Champions

COOPERSTOWN – Congratulations to the Cooperstown boys varsity basketball team, who repeated as the Section III Class C champions with a 74-51 win over Cato-Meridian on Sunday at Onondaga Community College’s SRC Arena in Syracuse.

Miles Nelen had a team-high 19 points for the Hawkeyes, along with five assists and two steals. Jackson Crisman scored 18 points and hauled in 20 rebounds for Cooperstown during the blowout championship victory.

Cooper Coleman had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Hawkeyes, while Christian Lawson scored seven points and had three assists in Sunday’s title game.

Cooperstown will now compete in the quarterfinals of the Class C New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Championship Tournament on Sunday, March 15, at 5 p.m. at SRC Arena in Syracuse.

The Hawkeyes will go up against Section IV Class C winner Elmira Notre Dame, who defeated Delaware Academy, 68-64, in overtime on Saturday.
