All of the school buses used to transport our students to and from school, sporting events and other extracurricular activities underwent their biannual New York State safety inspections on Thursday – a highly important measure to ensure every student is transported safely each day.
Twice a year, state inspectors check over 400 safety items during each inspection, ensuring all school buses in New York state operate at the highest safety standards in the country. Across the state, nearly 60,000 buses, vans and ambulettes are subject to a New York State Department of Transportation safety inspection every six months. More than 100 qualified bus inspectors are responsible for performing these inspections.
