CCS District to Move to Emergency Remote Instruction

ATTENTION CCS District Families K-12:

This afternoon, around 3:00pm, the Department of Health notified the District that a teacher in the Elementary Building has tested positive for COVID.  As requested, the school developed lists of all students and staff members who were in direct contact with this teacher last Thursday and Friday according to the criteria established by the Department of Health.

As a result, a small number of students will be required to quarantine for 14 days.  Unfortunately, due to the number of staff members requiring 14 days of quarantine, the Elementary Building will be turning to emergency remote instruction until November 30th.  Again, grades K-6 will be turning to emergency remote instruction until November 30th.

Out of an abundance of caution, students in grades 7-12 will be turning to emergency remote instruction for this week, Tuesday, November 17th through Friday, November 20th only.  All students attending BOCES will be attending those programs in person this week.  Again, students in grades 7-12 will be turning to emergency remote instruction for this week, Tuesday, November 17th through Friday, November 20th only, and will return to hybrid instruction on Monday, November 23rd. Please know that these decisions were made based on a multitude of factors and on information provided by the Department of Health.

All district families will be receiving an email from our Principals providing additional information for each building.  This same information will be posted on the home page of the District website early this evening. I thank you all for your patience as we respond to this situation.  It is our goal to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all, and we truly appreciate your support during this difficult time.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at school should you have any further questions or concerns.

Mrs. Wenck,

Interim Superintendent, Cooperstown Central School District
