Regina Lassiter, as the Witch, and Dan Ralston as Jack, rehearse for Into the Woods.

This year’s musical by the CCS Thespians will take the audience on a journey through Grimm’s Fairy Tales via a Stephen Sondheim classic.

The Thespians will present Into the Woods, which is a mash-up of several Grimm’s Fairy Tales. There are four scheduled performances over Veterans Day weekend, including evening shows and a Sunday matinee.

More than fifty students are involved in this year’s production, including a cast of twenty, an ensemble of ten, a large stage crew and more than ten students in the pit orchestra. The show is directed by instrumental music teacher Tim Iversen.

The musical, which debuted in 1986, won several Tony Awards. It was also produced as a major motion picture in 2014.

Evening performances will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10; Friday, Nov. 11; and Saturday, Nov. 12. The matinee will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or in the high school between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. the week of the show. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children. Senior citizens who live in the district may attend for free, but are asked to obtain tickets in advance of the show if possible.
