Four students are seen during a field trip to Syracuse University

Cooperstown BOB students got to hold an actual Oscar award during a visit to Syracuse University.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, 26 Battle of the Books students toured Bird Library and Carnegie Library at Syracuse University.

Various librarians throughout the tour shared their job descriptions, which showcased the vast opportunities in the library field. The students visited the special collection area at the Bird Library and saw a 500-year-old choral book, an Oscar, and a page of a Gutenberg Bible.

At the end of the tour,  David Seaman, Dean of Libraries and University Librarian,  Barbara Stripling, Senior Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Practice, and Natasha Cooper, Collection Development and Analysis Librarian, were just a few of the librarians who participated in a question and answer session.

All attendees had a great day!
